How do I get started?2026-06-29T16:24:40+00:00

Getting started is simple. Complete our online assessment form and submit your enquiry through the website.

Once we have reviewed your information, we will arrange an initial 50-minute online assessment appointment with a therapist via Zoom.

Why do I need to complete an online assessment form?2026-06-29T16:24:59+00:00

The online assessment form helps us gather important information about your circumstances, needs, and reasons for seeking support before your first appointment.

This allows us to ensure that our services are appropriate for your needs and helps your therapist prepare for your initial assessment session.

What happens during the first appointment?2026-06-29T16:25:25+00:00

Your first appointment is a 50-minute online assessment session conducted via Zoom with your therapist.

During this session, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns in more detail, explore your goals for therapy, ask questions, and decide whether you feel comfortable working together. Your therapist will also assess how they can best support you and discuss recommendations for ongoing sessions.

Is online therapy suitable for everyone?2026-06-29T16:26:21+00:00

Online therapy is effective for many people, but it may not be suitable in all circumstances.

Both the online assessment form and the initial Zoom assessment help us determine whether our services are likely to be safe, appropriate, and beneficial for you.

Online therapy may not be suitable if:

  • You are experiencing a mental health crisis or require urgent intervention.
  • You are unable to keep yourself safe or require immediate support.
  • You require specialist services that cannot be safely provided online.
  • You do not have access to a private and confidential space for sessions.
  • You are unable to access the technology required for online appointments.
  • Your needs would be better met by another service or level of care.

If we believe another service would better meet your needs, we will discuss this with you and, where appropriate, provide information about alternative support options.

Please note that CPS Therapies is not an emergency or crisis service. If you require urgent support, please contact 999, NHS 111, your GP, or your local mental health crisis team.

What is counselling?2026-06-29T16:26:36+00:00

Counselling provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space to explore thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. It can help you better understand yourself, develop coping strategies, and work towards positive change.

What issues can counselling help with?2026-06-29T16:27:16+00:00

Counselling can help with a wide range of personal, emotional, and psychological difficulties. Common reasons people seek counselling include:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Depression and low mood
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Family concerns
  • Trauma and abuse
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Work-related stress
  • Life transitions
  • Personal growth and development

This list is not exhaustive. People seek counselling for many different reasons, and you do not need to be experiencing a diagnosed mental health condition to benefit from therapy.

If you are unsure whether counselling is right for your particular circumstances, this can be discussed during your online assessment and initial Zoom assessment session.

What is couples counselling?2026-06-29T16:27:32+00:00
